From Gronsky's lens, the most northern metropolis in the world appears to sprawl with no inhabitants, just monstrous factories polluting the air with toxic chemicals. This range of industrial, seemingly abandoned landscapes appear ironically soft due to the pastel tones of the factories that are detached from their grey backgrounds.

"Norilsk" bathes in an atmosphere that is at once apocalyptic and melancholic, and the series invites the viewer to contemplate the impact that human beings have on their environment.
