Ben LOWY
«Photographier la guerre a un côté captivant, soutient Ben Lowy. On se sent dans la peau de Schwarzenegger. On fonce dans le danger, ce qui est excitant. Et on a aussi l’extraordinaire privilège de pouvoir témoigner de l’Histoire en marche.
Ce photojournaliste né en 1979, diplômé de l’université Washington de Saint Louis, a débuté en 2003 avec ses reportages sur la guerre d’Irak. Il a aussi travaillé en Afghanistan, en Haïti, en Indonésie, en Libye, au Darfour (projeté à Perpignan dans le cadre de Visa pour l’Image en 2005), au Vietnam, en Inde – entre autres ! Ses photos ont été publiées dans «Time», «Newsweek», «Fortune», «Rolling Stone», «National Geographic», «Stern»... Il fait maintenant partie de l’équipe VII Network dans laquelle l’agence VII distribue également le travail de photographes non membres. Ses images aux couleurs intenses ont obtenu de nombreuses récompenses, dont le 2e prix du World Press photo, en 2007. A New York, son point d’attache, Ben Lowy vit avec la photographe Marvi Lacar, sa femme, et leurs deux teckels nains.
