Blue River Falls

Matt Henry

Born in 1978 in North Wales, United-Kingdom

Blue River Falls is Henry’s second major project, and adopts the same diptych-based format as Burial Creek. It portrays fragments of narrative from a fictional town and the subject matter here is firmly dystopian. With references to film noir and the supernatural elements of television shows such as The Twilight Zone, Henry reveals a town whose characters are destined to repeat the worst excesses of desire and an infantile approach to love. The town becomes a kind of purgatory for the narcissist, blind to the possibility of real human connection. A nod to Ayn Rand also reveals an ideological component to this parable.
