The photographs from her first series Islands of Silence are not stolen. The subjects, whether they be unidentified or famous, willingly and gracefully let go of their inhibitions in front of Wenders' lens. There is no set-up, just patience.

Born in 1965 in Berlin, Donata Wenders is the wife of film director Wim Wenders. After working as a camera assistant and director of photography on movie sets, she turned to photography. She enjoys working without any imposed directives or rules, following her instincts, and the mood and light of the moment.
